Staging Area for Warehouse

Hi,

We are setting up a data warehouse and plan to have the staging area on the same server. Should I setup a separate instance for the staging area?

Not a simple yes no answer. How much load on DW db and load on staging db etc.
We have it on same server as our BI instance
