SQL Server 2008 firewall setting

I have created a windows firewall rule to allow TCP connections to a defined port.

I would like to know more about the scope options.
What is the difference between local ip address and remote ip address.
Is there a best practice on that matter or should i leave the default "any ip" option?

My Sql 2008R2 is running in a standalone server with that role only.
It is accessed by webservers and local application inside the lan.
