I have problem and I cannot resolve so I need help. I have Pentium 4 3MHz with 3GB RAM PC and
Windows XP SP3. I have also installed SQL Server 2000 and that's work just fine.
Now I try (for several days) to install SQL Server 2008 R2 but I got on start error like it missing .NET framework 4.5 which is strange since .NET framework 4.5 is not for windows XP, and if I get install procedure don't all option and he broke on beginning .
I have try several download from microsoft site but no use.
So, any help is it possible to install SQL Server 2008 R2 and if someone have the same problem please help.

R2 versions are for 64-bit systems.

I have never tried installing on workstation, only servers; Sorry
just start installing it and ping back when you hit a wall. you can always uninstall and restart until you feel comfortable with it.

I forget to tell I have install PowerShell 1.0, the same error still stay.
also this message after few installation windows...
search that error code 1608 online for a solution. I think you might have previous sql installation left overs.
