Does Windows patching impact SQL Server?

Hi all,

We're going to be doing some Windows Patching on our database servers and I wanted to know if this will run anything on SQL Server? It is Windows 2012.

Will the build version be changed?

Is there any impact at all?

when in doubt the answer is "Yes, it will impact SQL Server." After all SQL Server runs on Windows and if you patch Windows...

Hard to know more unless you tell us what patches you're thinking of.

Patch the Dev server first and test everything.
