I installed SQL Server 2014, and then tried to run ClearTrace. This is the error that was generated when I tried to create a database:

It did create the database called TRACES. However, if I run ClearTrace again, it tells me to create a database. If I try to connect to the same database, it says the database needs to be upgraded, and then it fails with this:

"Ntext" is no longer a valid data type. Change it to "nvarchar(max)" instead.

I'm not sure where to make that change. The error occurs when ClearTrace is creating the database, so is that value being supplied by the ClearTrace app itself, or is there a setting within my SQL Server that needs to change before I let ClearTrace create the database?

I figured it out. Rather than let ClearTrace create the database, I created it myself and chose Latin1_General_100_BIN for the collation. That works perfectly.

It looks like SQL Server got installed with a case-sensitive collation. I've never tested that before so I don't know if it will work at all.
