Backup Principle database

we have set up database mirroring SQL 2005.
can i take full backup principle database ? does it break database mirroring if i will take full backup of Principle database ?

I'm pretty sure that you can take a full backup using the COPY ONLY option of backup. It doesn't show up in the GUI's for 2005. You have to write the command and include it.

Unless I'm missing something you can take full backups of principle databases normally. Are you also doing transaction log backups?
