Help This Clueless Guy Please!

Hello, friends. My Boss forwarded me an email that has a .trn extension. I am supposed to view the file but I can't open it at all. Usually, these files are in .xlsx format and I use them to view charge-backs of our customers. How can I open this file type?

Any sort of help would be greatly appreciated.

A .trn file is a SQL Server transaction log backup file. I'm guessing you boss has no more of a clue than you do (or he has a warped sense of humor), otherwise he would know that you won't be reading anything from that file...
Not unless you also happen to also have the previous full back up file, any log file backups that were taken between the full backup and the one have. You'll also need the encryption certificate from the server that created it.
